One dead, five in custody after officer-involved shooting.

Two Lincoln police officers were wounded but are expected to survive, and one man was killed in what started as a traffic stop in northeast Lincoln Sunday night.

Police Chief Jim Peschong, speaking late Sunday outside the emergency department at Bryan West Campus, confirmed that a male officer suffered a gunshot wound and a female officer was physically assaulted. Police did confirm that a man who witnesses saw lying in the street was shot to death in the confrontation with officers who originally responded to the area of 73rd and Adams streets on a report of suspicious activity. By midnight, the area was fairly quiet, with half a dozen or so officers near the taped-off area waiting for crime scene investigators to complete their work.
