2 Marines die when military helicopter crashes in California.

TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. (AP) — The military says two Marines were killed when their helicopter crashed during a training exercise in Southern California. HONOLULU (AP) — Crews have spotted a red diesel sheen south of the Honolulu airport one day after a vessel sank off Oahu, the Coast Guard said Friday. The helicopter crew members from the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, based at Miramar, were taking part in training at the air ground combat center in Twentynine Palms when they crashed about 4:30 p.m., officials said. “Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two Marines we lost in this tragic accident,” Major General Michael A.
