Former state senator’s son involved in fatal shooting that closed I-95.

The son of former state Senator Edd Houck shot and killed himself on Interstate 95 Tuesday after, state police say, he killed a romantic rival at a hotel in Caroline County, abducted his estranged partner and led troopers on a chase.

–A former state senator’s son fatally shot himself on I-95 north, after committing a murder at the Relax Inn motel, and abducting a woman, according to law enforcement. Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa said they had received a 911 call just after 8:00 a.m. from a Relax Inn hotel where an argument and gunshots were heard.

As troopers boxed in Houck’s vehicle, he rammed a cruiser. “Then a gunshot was heard from inside the vehicle,” said state police spokeswoman Corinne Geller. A deputy arrived quickly at the motel in the 18000 block of AP Hill Boulevard , and witnessed a driver speed away with a passenger in the front suit, and pursuit was initiated throughout the town of Bowling Green.

Houk had a long criminal history, including being charged with abducting and sexually 14-year-old girl when he was 18, according to the Free Lance-Star.
