Amber Alert ends as Lincoln Parish boy is found safe, state police say

AMBER ALERT UPDATE: 8-year-old reported missing Sunday found safe.

When police arrived, officers from the Uniform Patrol Division were able to determine that a woman, Tasha Knox, was visiting the motel with another person. She went in to one of the rooms and left her 8-year-old son sleeping in the back seat of a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer with Louisiana License plate ZAW146.

Nick Manale, a spokesman for the Louisiana State Police, said just after 9:30 p.m. that Dakota Knox had been located safe in Ouachita Parish. “Authorities are still searching for the child’s suspected abductor, 23 year old Sommer Ann Hattaway,” Sgt. Further inquiries or information related to the ongoing investigation should be directed to Ruston Police Department Deputy Chief Clint Williams at 318-255-4141. He has blond hair, fair complexion, blue eyes and was last seen wearing an orange shirt, yellow shorts, and a yellow jacket. “Our investigators don’t have were not ready to make a determination at this point if she was specifically targeting the child or the car, we won’t know that until we locate her and the vehicle,” said Clint Williams, Deputy chief of Ruston Police. “If the child has been dropped off with someone, we are just trying to get the child back, we need to make sure that this child is safe and reunited with their family” An Amber alert has been issued for Dakota Knox. If anyone has any information about where this child could be, you are asked to call Ruston Police Department’s Criminal Investigative Division at 318-255-4141 or Crimestoppers of Lincoln Parish.
