A heartbreaking trail of missed chances in death of 8-month-old forgotten in car.

Investigators speak with Macedonia police officers near the car in the Walmart parking lot where a child was found dead Wednesday afternoon. (Jane Morice, Northeast Ohio Media Group) MACEDONIA, Ohio — Sobbing can be heard in the background of a 911 call made Wednesday alerting authorities that an 8-month-old baby died in the backseat of his grandmother’s SUV in a Walmart parking lot.No one at the day care noticed that the 8-month-old was never taken out his car seat in the family SUV when the rest of his siblings were dropped off Wednesday morning. Wednesday apparently forgot the baby in the third row of seats, and the child’s grandmother didn’t realize he was still there when she drove the SUV to work at the Macedonia Wal-Mart at around 11 a.m. There it remained until 11am, when the boy’s grandmother got int the SUV and drove to work without realizing the child was still in the back seat, reported NewsNet5.

She found the unresponsive boy hours later, and police were called at around 5:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Summit County medical examiner. At 5:30 p.m., when the baby’s three siblings arrived home from day care without their brother, the child’s mother called his grandmother — and the police — in a panic. That’s when the older women went outside to check her car. “There was a large crowd here before and they were shocked,” Yakopovich said, speaking from the scene. “We’re all shocked.
