Branford Teen Killed in Pennsylvania Crash.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. >> A Penn State student from Branford died Sunday in a one-vehicle accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike involving seven students returning from a trip to solicit donations for THON, a student-run organization that raises money for and awareness of pediatric cancer, according to a press release from the university. Vitalya “Tally” Sepot, 19, of Branford, Conn., was killed in the crash just after 1:45 p.m. in Charlestown, Chester County, as the students returned to State College from the Philadelphia area, where they were collecting donations for the student-run THON charity dance marathon. Victoria Barrett, 18, of Gibsonia, and five other passengers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois and Virginia were transported to Paoli Hospital, the university said. The accident, which occurred in Charlestown Township, Chester County, is being investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and it is unclear how it occurred.

Katie Mailey, THON 2016 executive director, said: “The loss of one of our volunteers and the injury of others is a tragedy and we know this will be felt throughout our community.
