Brooklyn man charged in fatal Thanksgiving hit-and-run crash that caused chain reaction pile-up.

A Brooklyn man, nabbed after a desperate escape attempt ended with a car wreck and a failed carjacking bid, was charged in a gruesome Thanksgiving crash that killed one woman, cops said.A manical driver blazed a path of destruction on a Brooklyn street Thursday night — hitting an SUV and then fatally striking a woman before smashing into several cars, cops and witnesses said.

Witnesses say they saw a man in his 20s, driving a white Mercedes sedan hit the woman, then try to keep going but several cars were in his way, CBS2’s Dave Carlin reported. “She was driving and he hit her on the side so he hit the lady and then hit it from the side knocked her over the divider and caused the other cars to collide trying to get away,” one witness said. Hit-and-run driver Michael McBean, 24, was accused of an assortment of crimes Friday in the crash that fatally injured 56-year-old Yvette Molina, of Brooklyn, as she climbed into her car, cops said. Investigators determined 24-year-old Michael McBean was behind the wheel of a 2010 Mercedes-Benz Thursday evening when he struck a car stopped at a traffic light on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York, police said.

As he tried to flee, he then struck the 56-year-old woman, who was getting into her Toyota Sienna near Stanley Ave., police said. “We heard the loud crash sound and then we went running to see what happened,” Humphrey said. “And then next thing you know you see all the cars. McBean is now charged with attempted robbery, leaving the scene of an accident which resulted in a death, obstruction of governmental administration and disorderly conduct. The cold-hearted driver sped away from the scene but soon barreled into the back of a blue Dodge Caravan — sparking a chain-reaction accident at a red light that involved a black Dodge Charger and white Audi Q7. The driver, in his attempt to flee the crash, then slammed into the helpless Molina — and continued on his way, leaving the dying woman lying unconscious in his rear view mirror.
