PASCAGOULA, Miss. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The Coast Guard on Wednesday continued to search for three men aboard a single-engine plane that went missing in the Mississippi Sound shortly after takeoff from the Gulfport airport.

Coast Guard spokesman Jonathan Lally identified the men on board the plane as Dexter Brewer of Saucier, Mississippi; Gerald Miletello, of West Monroe, Louisiana; and Ron Gregory, the plane’s pilot. The single-engine, private plane had been bound for South Carolina, but it was less than 50 miles east of the airport when it lost radar contact Monday afternoon. Authorities found debris Tuesday, including a piece with part of the private plane’s registration number, on a beach in Ocean Springs, about 15 miles west of where the search was originally concentrated off Pascagoula.

Coast Guard crews from New Orleans, Pascagoula, and Mobile, Alabama, are involved in the search, as is a crew from the Mississippi Department of Marine Resources.
