BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Florida Atlantic University has taken steps to fire a professor who has repeatedly raised questions about the shooting deaths of children at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut and other mass killings.

A Florida professor was fired this week after initiating a years-long campaign claiming the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax and harassing the family of a victim he believes never existed. FAU said in a release on its website that School of Communication and Multimedia Studies professor James Tracy was served a notice of termination Wednesday. James Tracy, an associate professor at the university, has written that although the news media reported that 26 people died in a mass shooting at the school in Newtown, Conn., the incident was staged. Last week, the parents of of one child, Lenny and Veronique Pozner, wrote an opinion piece in the Sun-Sentinel that began: “It’s been three years since we last embraced our precious little boy, Noah. On his blog, however, he has hit a number of the classic conspiracy theories: the September 11 attacks, the purview of the Department of Homeland Security, the PATRIOT Act, the death of Osama bin Laden and Fukishima have all been topics of interest.
