Couple fighting with Verizon over $2M bill.

(NEWSER) – Nobody likes dealing with bills. Ken Slusher, of Damascus, paid a down payment on a new house this week and was looking forward to moving in soon with his girlfriend and their children.Slusher and his girlfriend opened an account with Verizon late last year and cancelled the account shortly after when they started noticing serious discrepancies on their bills.

FOX12 reported that when Slusher called an automated phone line to check his account balance, a voice recording states: ‘Your total amount due is $2,156,593.64.’ Slusher says the couple have gone around in circles with customer service representatives for nearly ten months, who acknowledge mistakes have been made with their account. In a statement to FOX12 on Tuesday evening, a Verizon spokesman apologized for the mistake, which was blamed on a programming error in the automated voice response system.
