Dahmer’s killer speaks

‘Why I killed Jeffrey Dahmer': Christopher Scarver discusses killer’s death and ‘prison-wide plot’ for the first time.

Christopher Scarver, who was sentenced to two life terms in prison for killing Dahmer and another man at Columbia Correctional Institution in 1994, said the confessed cannibal would leave the fake limbs around the prison where others would find them. “He crossed the line with some people — prisoners, prison staff,” the newspaper quoted Scarver as saying. “Some people who are in prison are repentant — but he was not one of them.” “If he saw a guard that was nervous and standing near enough to hear him, he would say, ‘I bite,'” the newspaper quoted the pastor, Roy Ratcliff, as saying. “Usually the guard would jump away and that would make Jeff laugh.” “He sort of played with his persona to exaggerate it and make people more fearful,” Ratcliff said. “This was just his way — a morbid humor to deal with his hopeless situation.” He told the Post that he killed Dahmer and another inmate, Jesse Anderson, after an altercation while they were together unsupervised on a work detail. Christopher Scarver — the man who murdered serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in 1994 — spoke to the New York Post‘s Jamie Schram about why he felt he had no choice but to murder the cannibal — and why he believes that prison officials wanted him to. Scarver said he kept a newspaper article detailing Dahmer’s crimes, which included killing 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, having sex with corpses, keeping some of the body parts and eating others. In an interview with The Post last Friday, Scarver accused prison authorities of being involved in the murders, but refused to elaborate out of fear of retribution by Wisconsin officials. Scarver said that he fatally struck Dahmer twice over the head with a metal bar after growing unnerved by the killer, who he claims would fashion severed limbs out of prison food and drizzle them with with packets of ketchup as blood.

Ratcliff, who performed a prison baptism on Dahmer to cleanse his soul, even got the crazed cannibal to admit that he ingested the biceps of only one of his victims. “However, when he was arrested and they found body parts in the freezer — a heart and a liver — he told me that he was ‘saving them to eat for later.’” On Sunday, The Post revealed that convicted murderer Christopher Scarver bludgeoned Dahmer to death in 1994 because he was disgusted by the practical jokes. But Endicott also said that two guards — Donovan Dittberner and Robert Theiler — were disciplined for leaving their posts in the gymnasium where Dahmer, Scarver and Anderson were on cleaning detail that fateful day in November 1994.
