Man charged in burglary that ended in shootout with D.C. police; female accomplice killed.

A 21-year-old man was charged on Tuesday in connection with a break-in at a liquor store in Shepherd Park and a shootout with D.C. police that left his female accomplice dead in Northwest Washington, authorities said. Police said McAllister was armed with a long-barreled gun, and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, a yellow construction vest, black pants, burgundy shoes and gray gloves. Prosecutors charged McAllister with burglary while armed, noting in an arrest affidavit that he did not announce a robbery but instead walked into the store along with the woman, passed by an employee sitting in an office and rummaged through the stockroom. A police officer arriving on Alaska Avenue saw her and chased her around the store to the parking lot, where police said she fired on officers, who fired back.

By the time police found McAllister, he had discarded some of his clothing; the yellow vest and other items were found in a gray Buick parked near the liquor store.
