Debris found in lake after plane carrying couple vanishes.

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a wheel and part of a seat from a small airplane that vanished while approaching a Connecticut airport have been retrieved from a New York reservoir. A Westchester County couple were returning to Connecticut after a short trip to Mississippi when their single-engine plane vanished on approach to Danbury Airport, according to a report. The Journal News reports ( ) that Eric Horsa of Ridgefield, Connecticut, identified the pilot as his father, Val Horsa, of South Salem. It was coming in from Mississipi, according to the Department of Environmental Protection. “We were able to see a sheen on the reservoir,” DEP spokesman Adam Bosch said. “We were also able to find some debris, specifically a seat and a wheel were found.” “There is no threat to New York City’s water supply whatsoever,” Bosch said. “Right now obviously the police who are working on site, their dive teams are concentrating on finding debris, finding the airplane, finding anyone who may have been aboard.” Multiple departments are assisting state police in the search, including the Croton Falls Fire Department, Yorktown Heights Fire Department, DEP, Civil Air Patrol and State Police aviation.
