Deputy Kevin Moody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said homicide detectives from his department are investigating the case, but he released few details.

The officer was found dead at about 11:08 p.m. in the parking lot of Downey Police Department in the 10900 block of Brookshire Avenue, Sheriff’s Department officials said.
