2014-’15 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Recalled for Stalling and Fire Risk.

According to the company, there are a total of 1,697 units of the 2014 – 2015 RAM pickup trucks in the United States and 50 units in Canada which will be affected by this recall.

The has gotten into the headlines recently for its class-leading fuel economy and is one of the favorite new models among the Truck Trend Network staff. The carmaker is saying that the condition is limited to vehicles equipped with diesel engines and two-wheel drive and the potential short-circuit can lead to power loss or even a fire. “The affected vehicles have a battery harness that may rub against the frame bracket for the right engine mount resulting in an electrical short. If the harness shorts, the vehicle may stall and there is an increased risk of a fire”, says the NHTSA in its recall Consequence and Summary of the problem. The affected models are the 2014 and 2015 RAM 1500 diesel 4×2 trucks, which have been produced between the 8th of August, 2013, and the 2nd of July, 2015.

Owners of these vehicle will be notified by Chrysler and after an appointment will be set, the company’s dealers will be inspecting them to confirm that the battery harness is correctly routed and secured. While the condition may not be present in every vehicle, FCA US urges customers to note the information on their recall notices and respond accordingly. The affected vehicles were sold in both the US and Canadian markets, although the vast majority of the trucks, 1,697 to be precise, are here in the land of the free and home of the brave. For any extra details on the topic, owners of the above mentioned models can contact the Chrysler Customer Service at 1-800-853-1403 or the National Highway Traffic Safety Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
