Anthony Cumia Charged With Assault After Fight With Woman.

He was arraigned Sunday on a charge of second-degree strangulation. Anthony Cumia, the former co-host of radio show “Opie and Anthony” who was fired last year, was arrested this weekend and faces domestic violence charges, according to the Associated Press. Cumia was arrested on Saturday over an alleged fight with a 26-year-old woman, who called authorities, at his New York home, the Nassau County police told the AP. The 26-year-old woman claims in the video — which was posted on the Periscope app under the name Dani Golightly — that Cumia, 54, “turned off” her phone when she tried to call the police. “Hi, I’m in Long Island, I got my hand broken, I’m waiting for police to come,” said the distressed woman, whose real name has not been released. “I tried to call the police, but he turned the phone off.” Cumia, who appears to be holding a beer, plays it for laughs, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is the Anthony and Dani show!” he says as he walks toward her, she backing away in apparent fear.

The 54-year-old Cumia was fired by satellite radio company SiriusXM last year after he took to Twitter to complain in obscenities that a woman had punched him in the face. He was arrested Saturday morning at his Roslyn Heights home and charged with strangulation in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, assault in the third degree and criminal mischief in the third and fourth degree. Cumia emphatically denies the allegations brought against him, and is optimistic that when the truth comes out, he will be exonerated,” attorney Alan Schwartz said in a statement.

Police arrived at Cumia’s home Saturday morning, where they say the shock jock was strangling the 26-year-old victim, described by some news reports as his girlfriend.
