GW fraternity brother missing after swimming in South Africa.

The university says it was notified Upton was missing by the school’s study abroad program partner in Cape Town. Nicholas Upton, a junior from Redding, Conn., who’s a member of the Kappa Alpha Order and rowing team at GW, was on a break from his study-abroad program. The university reports that Nicholas Upton, who goes by Nick, a junior at the university, has not been seen since swimming in the East Cape Province on Sunday at approximately 10:30 p.m. “One of our brothers, Nick Upton, has recently gone missing in South Africa. Embassy,” vice provost and dean of student affairs Peter Konwerski said in a statement. “We are closely monitoring this situation and are in touch with his family.
