Aggressive Hammerhead Follows Kayakers by La Jolla.

LA JOLLA — A hammerhead shark that circled and followed a group of swimmers and kayakers near La Jolla Shores prompted lifeguards to close a stretch of beach in the area Saturday afternoon. Lifeguards say the footage shows one 8- to 10-foot hammerhead circling around the kayaks and exhibiting what they are calling “aggressive behavior.” After the kayakers brought their video back to lifeguards, they immediately took action and requested that everyone leave the water. Lifeguards, as well as a marine biologist at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, reviewed a video taken of the shark and confirmed its size and type, officials said.
