Brother Bird Unveils New Single “Always” Accompanied by Music Video and Announces Upcoming Album and Tour

Nashville’s own Brother Bird’s new single, “Always,” along with its official music video, was released on February 6, 2024; the single heralds the upcoming release of the album “Another Year,” scheduled for March 8, 2024, under Easy Does It Records.

Reflecting on the creation of the single, Caroline shared, “In 2021, I collaborated with Luke Sital Singh and Tim Bruns to write this song initially for sync opportunities in TV and film. However, the melody struck a personal chord with me. As I was selecting tracks for this album, I felt a strong connection to include this one. It resonated with a deep personal experience I was undergoing at the time, making the lyrics significantly meaningful. Crafting this song was almost a solitary, subconscious process, where the words found me before their full impact was clear. ‘Always’ perfectly encapsulates this experience.”

“Another Year” stands as Brother Bird’s most emotionally resonant work to date. Caroline, both a co-producer and writer for the album, alongside producer Owen Lewis, infuses the music with influences ranging from The Cranberries’ melodic sensibilities, and Mazzy Star’s shoegaze elements to Big Thief’s distinctive guitar sounds, all while exploring the theme of anticipation.

The album navigates through the complexities of human experience, from the profound to the personal, touching on themes of introspection, existential queries, and intimate relationships in tracks like “state of mind,” “ghost,” and “always.” “Suburbs” explores paths not taken, and “final scene” offers a love ode to the apocalypse. “Famous” delves into Caroline’s early brush with success, a track revisited and refined from her debut EP in 2018, transforming from a challenging piece into a humorous commentary on self-doubt and the anxiety accompanying fame.
