Florence Pugh Just Broke the Marvel Rules and Posted From the Set of Thunderbolts

preview for 5 Ways Chris Hemsworth Stays in Superhero Shape

MARVEL STUDIOS ARE famously strict about what actors are and aren’t allowed to reveal about upcoming projects, and go to extreme lengths to keep plot details under wraps while filming is underway. But somehow, Florence Pugh was able to sneak her phone onto the set of next year’s Thunderbolts, in which she is reprising the role of assassin Yelena Belova, and she just teased fans with a sneaky tour behind the scenes on Instagram.

“I know that I’ve kind of dropped off for a little beat, but that’s partly because I was whisked off to Atlanta to go and shoot a movie that I’m not really allowed to talk much about,” she said, while walking from her trailer (clearly marked “Yelena”) to the set. “But I can show you some things, sneakily, as long as you don’t tell anyone.”

Pugh raised the camera to provide a clearer look at Yelena’s costume in the movie, introduce a crew member she first met back while filming 2021’s Black Widow, and then headed into the studio to show off some of the industrial-looking sets and “hang out” with director Jake Schreier, who pretended to scold her for revealing too much about the movie.

Thunderbolts is an ensemble movie that will feature a team of characters who have all previously appeared in the MCU as villains, antiheroes, or otherwise less squeaky clean than the Avengers. In addition to Pugh’s Yelena, these will include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes a.k.a. the Winter Soldier, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dryfus as Valentina.

Harrison Ford will also star as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt.

Thunderbolts will be released on May 2, 2025.
