Man arrested for jumping White House fence while Obama was celebrating Thanksgiving.

A man, draped in American flag, was arrested after he jumped a White House fence while President Barack Obama and his family were celebrating Thanksgiving, prompting a temporary lock-down. The man identified as Joseph Caputo was immediately apprehended by the US Secret Service after he scaled the fence of the highly secure complex yesterday. Criminal changes are pending against him. “Today at approximately 2:45 pm, Joseph Caputo scaled over the north fence line of the White House Complex gaining access to the North Grounds. Authorities have not elaborated on Caputo’s age, hometown or motivation for his action, but the New York Post reported that Caputo repeatedly posted anti-government screeds on his Facebook page and said of the Thanksgiving holiday, “Today has as much to do with turkeys and pilgrims as Easter does with eggs and rabbits … don’t think of what your planet can do for you, think about what you can do for your planet.” An image of Caputo draped in an American flag and hurdling a section of fence in front of the North Lawn was posted on the website of television station WJLA. An extra seven inches of spike was added to the top of the fence after at least three prior incidents of people breaching the perimeter at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue just this year alone.

Other long-term security enhancements were under consideration in response to a September 2014 security breach in which a Texas man – a former Army veteran named Omar Gonzalez – managed to scale the fence, enter the executive mansion and run deep into the building.
