2 Dead In Apparent Weymouth Homicide, Police Shooting.

Officers came to a house on Prospect Hill Drive around 1:04 a.m. and found a man “in an agitated state, apparently armed with one or more knives,” according to a release from the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office. A woman was found dead and a man was shot and killed by police early Monday morning outside a home in Weymouth, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey. Morrissey said. “We’re still investigating this matter, but the individual appeared to be armed with a couple of knives and he came at the police officers.” Both officers discharged their weapons. Both officers decided simultaneously that deadly force was necessary and opened fire on Campbell, who was brought to South Shore Hospital and pronounced dead, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

He played real life crack addict Gary “Boo Boo” Giuffrida in the 2010 Mark Wahlberg boxing drama “The Fighter,” which takes place in a rough neighborhood near Boston. A Boston Globe profile of Lorrie Higgins from 2014 described Paul Campbell as “a dark-haired rowdy who gradually built up a rap sheet of low-level crimes.” A high school friend of Higgins told the Boston Globe Campbell was “the kind of bad boy…(Higgins) shouldn’t be hanging out with.” Police are still investigating the case and have not suggested a motive for Campbell’s mother murder.

Officers found a woman’s body on the steps of the residence with multiple stab wounds. “There is no such thing as a routine call. . . situations like this illustrate that,” said Weymouth Police Chief Richard Grimes at a press conference this morning. The male was struck and incapacitated.” “While the cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, there was evidence of stabbing injury,” Traub said. In keeping with police department protocol, the officers were also transported to the hospital for evaluation, and they will be on administrative leave. Mike Brennan, who lives on Hilltop Drive directly behind the Campbell home, said he stayed up late watching coverage of the Patriots’s AFC Champioinship victory and heard shots being fired. “She was a wonderful, neighborly lady,” Mary Brennan said. “She was private, but always pleasant. This is a very sad day for our neighborhood.” Peggy McLaughlin, who lives a few houses away from the Campbells, said she looked out her window early this morning and saw the flashing blue lights of police cruisers, but assumed it was a medical call.

We get together and do things as a community and I see her at least a couple times a year,” she said. “Any time I’d be outside, she’d stop and we’d talk. She frequently saw her son walking around the neighborhood wearing sweatpants and carrying a gym bag. “He seemed to have some financial struggles,” DeLuca said. “Saw him last week and he said he was going to move to California to get into acting.
