Dozens Displaced After Massive Fire Tears Through Multiple Row Houses In The Bronx.

FORDHAM HEIGHTS, Bronx (WPIX) – At least nine people are hurt, including six firefighters and dozens were displaced following a huge fire that tore through multiple buildings in the Bronx.(CNN) – A six-alarm fire in the New York City borough of the Bronx burned through eight homes, injuring nine people and displacing 89 residents, a fire official said.

Fire!’ I ran out, grabbed my phone, no asthma pump, no glasses, nothing,” resident Cecile Beadle told CBS2’s Janelle Burrell. “One of the problems with the wood frame buildings is that it’s purely combustible,” FDNY Chief Edward Ferier said. “So everything burns — the furniture burns, the structural members burn, the roofing burns.” A fire department spokesman said 89 people have been displaced by the blaze. Fire officials have the blaze under control. “I was in the bedroom sleeping, then I heard a bunch of noise and racket,” Thomas Williams, whose home burned down said. “I thought it was neighbors arguing but then I saw a fireman telling me to get out.”
