Family of security guard on life support calls shooting “senseless crime”.

Keith Cox, the Metrorail Station security guard who was shot earlier this week by an unidentified gunman, died early Saturday after being taken off life support at Jackson Memorial Hospital.Family members — one from as far away as England — were in Miami-Dade Friday, trying to make sense of what seems to be the senseless shooting of a Metrorail security guard.

His organs will be donated to those in need. “The cowards who have perpetrated this senseless crime have taken his life,” Cox’s brother Kevin Cox said, family members by his side at Miami-Dade police headquarters in Doral. “He’s not going to survive his injuries. We want justice for my brother.” The shooting Tuesday night at the train station at Northwest 62nd Street and 27th Avenue has so far stumped police, and left Cox’s children and family stunned. Police said that a witness reported seeing a male running away from the scene and entering a dark-colored vehicle, which fled eastbound on Northwest 64th Street. The incident is still under investigation. “Our hearts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time,” Miami-Dade Police said in a statement. “Investigators continue to urge the community to contact Crimestoppers with any information pertaining to this case.”

Gill said her daughter is going to miss her grandfather, then offered this, her voice breaking up like her uncle’s: “He’s going to be a grandfather again, and he doesn’t even know about it.”
