Bronx woman who stabbed pregnant friend claims she acted in self-defense, cut child from womb to ‘save the baby’: cop sources.

NEW YORK – A baby was cut from the womb of a 22-year-old woman who was nearly nine months pregnant by a childhood friend with a knife, and the suspect was arrested on a murder charge, police said Saturday. “My baby angel,” Ashleigh Wade proclaimed on Facebook, commenting on ultrasound images of a fetus’ face, calling the girl “my lil dimpled cutie pie.” For months, Wade had lied to friends and acquaintances that she was pregnant.A baby-obsessed Bronx woman who stabbed an expectant mom to death claimed she killed her former pal in self-defense and cut the baby from her belly to save the newborn’s life. The bloody crime scene baffled investigators, who ordered blood tests to confirm that the baby girl, named Genesis, belonged to Angelikque Sutton, not the suspect. The accused killer’s defense emerged on Saturday, along with bizarre details of her fascination with babies – and grisly details of the savage murder.

Sutton, also 22, was 8¹/₂ months pregnant with her own baby girl, whom she had already named “Jenasis.” The women lunched at Applebee’s and shopped for baby stuff together, police sources said. “I thought she was pregnant. I didn’t know she wasn’t,” said Wade’s landlord, Angela Parris, who deals with pregnant women as an OB/GYN nurse. “She said she was supposed to deliver on Monday, and I texted her and asked if she had the baby, and she said, ‘No, not yet,’ ” Parris told The Post. Angel Praylow wrote about his “baby girl” on Facebook, posting the 3-D images of the fetus’ face and answering questions from relatives eager to attend the baby shower.

But on Facebook that day, he wrote, “She not ready to come out yet.” There were always sonogram pictures — but one posted on Angel Praylow’s Facebook page in May, and again in July, exactly matches sonograms available online via Google Images. After initially claiming she had just given birth to the baby herself, Wade later changed her twisted tune and said it was her pregnant victim who attacked her inside her home on Monticello Ave. in Wakefield.

Wade, who was transferred from Jacobi Medical Center to Elmhurst Center Hospital in Queens on Saturday while undergoing psychiatric evaluation, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. The would-be father also appeared to be convinced, posting sonogram photos to social media of an unidentified child and links to a baby registry in Wade’s name that lists Nov. 16 as the due date, Carlin reported. The Facebook page of the unhinged woman’s boyfriend, Angel Praylow, 27, who walked in on the bloody scene, offered a glimpse into Wade’s baby crazy ways. That’s sick,” Sutton’s neighbor, Monica Keller, said. “It’s beyond mentally ill.” “Man, just like that, she is gone,” said the retired construction worker, tears rolling down his cheeks. “I watched her as a kid riding her bicycle up and down the block.

Praylow had been posting pictures of baby clothes and sonograms on Facebook in recent months and Wade had registered for gifts at Babies “R” Us, claiming a due date of Nov. 16. In the days before the murder, Wade said she and Sutton dined at an Applebee’s in Co-op City and even went shopping for baby-related items at Toys R’ Us.
