Wunmi Mosaku, best known for her work in Marvel Studios’ Loki and HBO’s Lovecraft Country, has joined Michael B. Jordan in the untitled supernatural horror thriller that Ryan Coogler is directing for Warner Bros.

The buzzy project, the object of a high-profile bidding war in January, heads before cameras later this month in New Orleans and is furiously casting up. Delroy Lindo and Jack O’Connell closed deals last week.

Little is known about the project — and what is known has yet to be confirmed by either the studio or Coogler. Insiders say the feature is set in the Jim Crow-era South and possibly involves both vampires and Southern supernatural traditions. Jordan may be playing dual roles — as twin brothers.

Sources say that Mosaku may be one of the feature’s female lead and playing the wife of one of Jordan’s characters.

Coogler wrote the script and is also producing via his production company Proximity Media. Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian are also producing.

The project, which The Hollywood Reporter first revealed in January, was a subject of a heated bidding war in the winter, with Warners coming out on top thanks to unique deal that will see some of the movie’s rights reverting to the filmmaker over the course of several decades.

The studio has set a March 7, 2025 release date.

Mosaku, who was born in Nigeria and raised in the U.K., broke through in the U.S. with her performance in HBO’s Lovercraft Country, the acclaimed series that looked at 1950s racism through a horror lens. The actress played Ruby Baptiste, a role that earned her a nomination for a Critics Choice Award in the category of best supporting actress in a drama series.

The actress has appeared in both seasons of Loki, playing the key role of Hunter B-15, a soldier in the Time Variance Authority, opposite Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson. The BAFTA-winning actress most recently starred in British mystery series Passenger.

Mosaku is repped by Gersh, Principal Entertainment, Scott Marshall Partners (UK Agents) and Johnson Shapiro.
