Bodies of two young women found in same Los Angeles park where three were attacked last year; cops on ‘high alert’.

But on Thursday, less than a day after the bodies of a young woman and a teenage girl were discovered in bushes on a hillside, an eerie stillness fell over the picturesque park.

MONTECITO HEIGHTS (CBSLA.com) — Homicide detectives continued to investigate the deaths of two women Thursday who were found in a park in Montecito Heights. A woman walking her dog discovered the bodies Wednesday afternoon, and a day later the circumstances surrounding the deaths remained mostly a mystery. The bodies were discovered around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, located in the area of Mercury and Boundary avenues near a hiking trail on a brushy hillside in Ernest E.

One of the women said she was groped, another said that a man exposed himself, and a third said a suspect with a knife punched her and stood over her. Patricia Sandoval said Thursday. “It’s very alarming, especially for anybody that’s a runner, a hiker or a walker who uses that park regularly and thinks, ‘Am I in harm’s way now?'” Calzada and Gallegos were fully clothed when they were found, and did not show any signs sexual assault, cops say. However, Calzada was reported missing at approximately 9 p.m. — after her body had been found, according to KTLA. “It takes away the tranquility of the place,” Rosalia Lopez, who goes to the park almost every day, told the Los Angeles Times. “You have to be more alert now.” A 53-year-old woman, who declined to give her name because she feared for her safety, said she and a group of friends were working out at the park about 11 a.m.
