Batavia Mother Charged in Infant’s Death.

BATAVIA, N.Y. On August 27, 2015 at approximately 11:20 PM, officers of the Batavia Police Department responded to a suspicious condition call at 208 Liberty Street. Everyone kind of keeps to themselves so it’s shocking.” Police talked more about the investigation and said someone who knew Colantonio called police to report something was wrong.

Police launched an investigation Thursday after an acquaintance visiting Christina Colantonio’s apartment in Batavia, about 45 miles from Buffalo, found the baby’s body and called 911, Batavia police said. Authorities would not say how the baby died, but police said investigators “have enough evidence to come to a conclusion it was intentionally caused.” The baby, born in the suspect’s Liberty Street house, had been dead for three months when the body was found Thursday in the home, Batavia Police Detective Sgt. Monday. “We have enough to have come to the conclusion that the death was intentionally caused, but because of the fact that we do not have a final autopsy report and because the investigation, we won’t be indicating anything further about that (cause of death),” Genesee County District Attorney Lawrence Friedman said.

According to police, Colantonio kept the deceased infant’s body at her residence for roughly three months before it was discovered and reported to police by a third party.
