Pa. Trooper shot, bus bursts into flames on I-676 in Philly.

PHILADELPHIA — A Pennsylvania State Trooper was shot during a pursuit that ended with a school bus in flames on I-676 Tuesday morning, according to media reports. 6 ABC reports that a vehicle was being chased by police when it crashed into the back of the bus on the eastbound Vine Street Expressway near 22nd Street at about 9:45 a.m. Two men were standing outside the car and a third man inside the car opened fire, shooting the trooper straight through the back and straight through the shoulder. Mayor Nutter visited with the trooper at Hahnemann, Governor Wolf released a statement Tuesday morning in the wake of the shooting commending the trooper’s bravery. “My thoughts and prayers are with the Pennsylvania State Police Trooper shot on Interstate 676 in the line of duty today,” he said. “I am relieved to learn that the Trooper is in stable condition at a hospital in Philadelphia. Eastbound and Westbound I-676 is closed between I-76 and I-95; I-76 West was closed between 30th Street and I-676; and I-76 is closed between Girard Avenue and 30th Street, CBS 3 reports. Bryon Dickson was killed and Trooper Alex Douglass was seriously hurt when Eric Frein ambushed them outside the police barracks in Blooming Grove, Pennsylvania.
