Investigators say Amonderez Green of Florissant died Thursday morning at a hospital, more than 14 hours after the shooting in Normandy, adjacent to Ferguson.

Tamika Sanders says at this point, it appears an officer did trade shots with the man, but they do not believe he was shot by the officer. “I don’t want to speculate,” Sanders says. “However, there were no officers in the proximity of the individual at the time that that gunshot was heard.

And then when they came around the corner, they observed the male unresponsive.” A neighbor at the scene who declined to give her name told reporters that she watched from her window as officers fired two final shots that knocked down the man at close range. Tamika Sanders explained what happened next: “Officers in pursuit of the male momentarily lost sight of him, however hearing one additional gunshot.
