Jackson County prosecutors will seek the death penalty in Woodbridge slayings.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. Jackson County prosecutors announced Friday they will seek the death penalty against a man accused in the murderous rampage that left five people dead last September in the Woodbridge area of south Kansas City. Howell, 35, is charged with first-degree murder in the Sept. 2 shotgun slayings of Susan Choucroun, 69, Lorene Hurst, 88, and her son Darrel Hurst, 63.

Prosecutors have said Howell beat 86-year-old Anna Taylor and her 80-year-old husband in their home before stealing their sport utility vehicle and fatally shooting three others outside. One victim’s body was later found buried outside a Kansas City, Missouri, home being renovated by Howell’s father; the other body has never been found.
