Construction worker killed in fall from roof of new Vikings stadium.

A construction worker died and another was injured Wednesday morning after a fall while working on the roof of the Vikings’ new stadium in Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. John Wood, senior vice president for Mortenson Construction, said the two workers from Berwald Roofing fell around 7:45 a.m. on the north side of the stadium, the report said. In a statement, the Vikings called it an “extremely sad day” for the organization and offered thoughts and prayers for the family of the worker killed, the individual who was injured and more than 1,000 construction employees who are affected by the accident.

The more than $1 billion stadium is being built on the site of the team’s former stadium, the Metrodome, on the eastern edge of downtown Minneapolis.
