Biden says he’s hopeful GOP, Obama can score achievements.

Vice President Joe Biden admitted Wednesday morning that he could end up challenging presumptive front-runner Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination in 2016.Law enforcement authorities boosted security at Biden’s Wilmington home after several gunshots rang out from a vehicle speeding by the property Saturday night. Both Clinton and Biden have made no secret of their interest in running in 2016, but Clinton allies have been building an organization that encompasses many of the key strategists and operatives in the Democratic field, and she holds a significant double-digit lead in every poll of the potential field. Biden says in an interview he didn’t feel an atmosphere of blatant partisanship Tuesday night in the House, where President Barack Obama delivered his next-to-last State of the Union address.

Biden tells NBC’s “Today” show that “Republicans realize they’re in control and have to govern.” He says that reality makes him “more optimistic about getting things done.” The vice president also was asked about what seemed like derisive laughter among some Republicans when Obama noted at one point that he’d run his last campaign. He said: “I’m not at all worried.” Biden also told NBC on Wednesday he thought he “could do a good job” as president, but added it was too soon to say if he would try to succeed Barack Obama. Biden said on “CBS This Morning.” “What caused the recovery were the programs that, in fact, we put in place,” he said. “All the president’s saying is don’t stop the momentum now — you’re acknowledging there’s real momentum. Elizabeth Warren, a liberal icon whom many progressives see as their only alternative to Clinton. “I think this is wide open on both sides,” he said of the presidential primaries. “Right now my focus is getting implemented what the president talked about last night: to nail down this recovery and get the middle class back in the game.

Biden said “being president and being leader of the Senate is two different things”, noting a vice-president’s constitutional responsibility to occasionally preside over the Senate. They get it,” he said. “So the idea we’re going to stay silent and not talk about the value system they, in fact, agree on — I looked out at that chamber … I saw the Republicans stand an awful lot. He said instead that his goal is “to keep this recovery moving.” Biden also said he had “plenty of time” between now and this summer to make a decision about running.

Look, the person who is going to end — and Secretary Clinton is really competent, capable person, and a friend — the person who is going to be the next president of the United States is the one that’s going to be able to articulate the clearest vision to the American people of where they’re going to take the country.
