Boston hospital shooting: doctor seriously injured and alleged attacker dead.

The suspect entered Brigham and Women’s hospital, which is affiliated with Harvard Medical School, sometime before 11am and requested the doctor by name, Boston police commissioner William Evans said. The State Police said in a tweet they were assisting Boston police at a “reported shooting.” A State Police spokesman said Boston police would be the investigating agency.

The suspect was caught on the second floor of the Shapiro Building, the hospital’s cardiovascular wing, according to Adam Gaffin, a Boston blogger at the website Universal Hub. Police and hospital officials commended the fast response by police and hospital staff, who they said had been trained to respond to an “active shooter” situation.
