Officials warn people to stay clear of DC’s Union Station.

Details about the shooting — including the victim’s condition or why the guard opened fire — were not immediately available, police told the Washington Post. “Due to police activity, remain clear of the area near Union Station, please avoid this area until further notice,” the Senate Sergeant at Arms tweeted.“ As they were elsewhere around the country Friday, flags on the towering poles outside the main entrance to Union Station were flying at half-staff in remembrance of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. WASHINGTON (AP) — Law enforcement officials warned people to stay clear of Union Station, the busy transportation hub in the nation’s capital, because of police activity on Friday afternoon.Police in Washington, D.C., on Friday were investigating reports of a shooting inside Union Station, after local media outlets said shots had been fired at the train station’s food court, but added that the transportation hub was not an “active shooter situation.” The station is close to the U.S. Amtrak has restored its normal service on the Northeast Corridor this morning, five days after the tragic derailment of Northeast Regional Train 188 in Philadelphia.
