2 students arrested in Mississippi after explosive device found in school library.

VICKSBURG, Miss. A police spokeswoman said Thursday that the explosive found at Warren Central Junior High School would have caused little to no damage had it detonated on its own. Sandra Williams said in a news release that the student of Vicksburg, about 45 miles west of Jackson, will face charges of possession of an explosive device and having weapons — knives — on school property.

WJTV-TV reported late Wednesday that two students of junior high ages were arrested after investigators conducted a search warrant of one of the student’s homes, where authorities removed materials believed to be used in the construction of the device. The school was quickly evacuated, and nobody was injured. “We are very grateful that the child came forward with information and prevented a serious incident that possibly could have taken place at school,” Armstrong said.
