Biden To Visit West LA College As Part Of Southland Trip.

Security cameras outside Vice President Joe Biden’s Delaware home did not record a gunman who opened fire near the house Saturday night, a Secret Service official confirmed to NBC News on Tuesday. The cameras were aimed at areas directly adjacent to the house but not at the main road, where agents and neighbors heard a car speed away after approximately four to six shots were fired, the officials said, requesting anonymity to discuss the investigation.

Biden will visit West Los Angeles College in Ladera Heights on Friday, followed by a stop Saturday in Irvine to deliver remarks to the Patient Safety, Science & Technology Summit. Biden said the “breach” that exists between police and minority communities could be resolved, if all Americans agreed that “all life matters” equally and if law enforcement realized the “black male on the corner” might be the next Vincent van Gogh. “We need to agree in this nation on two basic statements of truth,” Mr.

Rock Peters, 57, claims New Castle County Police “accosted” him around 8:30pm that evening, saying the altercation with the cops resulted in a black eye, swollen nose, and injured ribs, according to a report from the News Journal. The Secret Service has said that a vehicle drove by Biden’s home — the vice president and his wife, Jill, were not home at the time — and that several shots were heard before the vehicle left “at a high rate of speed.” The paper reported that the security system at the home had been so problematic in the past, at times generating false alarms, that the Secret Service turned it off for months last year. Biden last visited Southern California last October for a roundtable discussion with Mayor Eric Garcetti and business leaders to discuss raising the minimum wage.

When the 57-year-old pulled up to an intersection near Biden’s house — just as cops were blocking the road off — officers told him to turn his vehicle around. Clancy, who took over in October after the resignation of then-Director Julia Pierson, last week forced out much of the agency’s top leadership, and Obama administration officials have called for sweeping reforms at the agency. An altercation between the two ensued, which allegedly resulted in two officers pushing Peters to the ground and hitting him in various parts of his body. In Peters’ account of the event, he was “cold-cocked” after stepping out of the jeep and reaching in his pocket for his license, as prompted by the officers. The six-bedroom house sits in a wooded area near a small lake, set back down a long, narrow driveway from a main road, a few miles outside of Wilmington, Del.

On some weekends, agents have traveled with Biden to Wilmington on a Friday evening, back to Washington on a Saturday morning, back to Wilmington Saturday afternoon and back to Washington Sunday night, according to people familiar with the schedule.
