Secret Service Agent Shot and Killed in D.C..

WASHINGTON — A uniformed U.S. A Secret Service officer who was suspended following an April arrest for allegedly trying to break into his girlfriend’s house was shot and killed Tuesday in Washington, D.C., authorities said. Baldwin, 30, according to Nicole Mainor, a spokeswoman for the Secret Service. “We are aware he was killed,” she said. “We express our condolences to his family.” D.C. police confirmed the victim’s identity late Wednesday morning, and said Baldwin had lived in Upper Marlboro.

Metropolitan Police, which is investigating the shooting, confirmed that Baldwin sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. He was put on leave and had his security clearance suspended in April following his arrest on a felony charge of first-degree attempted burglary and destruction of property.

Baldwin was scheduled for trial in February, and his most recent court appearance was Tuesday morning, a few hours before he was shot, according to court records.
