GALVESTON, Texas (AP) — A 13-year-old girl has died of injuries suffered when she jumped from a moving Texas school bus after an argument with another student.Mykala Hurst passed away Wednesday afternoon, two days after jumping from the emergency exit of a school bus while it was traveling 55 mph down Interstate 45.HOUSTON – The 13-year-old girl who jumped out of a moving school bus earlier this week has died at the hospital, according to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office.

She has not been identified. “Several individuals had to stop and swerve around to prevent from striking her,” Trochesset said “We received numerous calls from people about the incident.” “The bus driver pulled out, separated the two young ladies,” Trochesset said.”One in the front of the bus and one in the back of the bus. Trochesset says the Galveston Independent School District bus was transporting students from an alternative school at a juvenile justice center when two girls argued. He continued toward Galveston.” “We are extremely disheartened by the passing of one of our students, and we extend our thoughts and condolences to her family, friends, and teachers during this incredibly difficult period. “It is my sincere hope that you will join me in keeping her family and all of our students in your thoughts and prayers during this heartbreaking time,” he said. “I urge students to reach out to one of our counselors deployed throughout the district to help with the grieving process.”
