Arkansas State’s armed man in custody, no one hurt.

An armed man drove onto the Arkansas State University campus on Thursday, sparking a campus lockdown before police took him into custody without any shots fired, a university spokesman said. The man was taken into custody about an hour after the incident began, spokesman Bill Smith said, and the university lifted the lockdown for all parts of campus except for the east side of the student union.

The lockdown was lifted around 3:30 p.m. for most of the campus, though some parts remained on lockdown as a bomb squad planned to inspect the man’s truck. John Miller, a junior at Arkansas State, told the Arkansas Democrat Gazette in a phone interview that he was taking a test in the humanities building when he saw a green pickup drive onto the lawn in front of the union.
