Feds: Pa. teen charged with providing support to Islamic State.

A Pennsylvania 19-year-old pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group, used Twitter to spread its propaganda and had a backpack with ammunition that suggests he might have been plotting an attack, federal authorities said Thursday. From within his parents’ house, Jalil Ibn Ameer Aziz created a stockpile of weapons and spent his days chatting about buying women as slaves and killing US soliders, using Twitter handles like @MuslimBruh0. Federal prosecutors said a search of Aziz’s residence resulted in the seizure of ammunition magazines, survival equipment and a knife and tactical-style backpack. Court documents said a “go bag” or “tactical-style backpack” found in Aziz’s closet during a Nov. 27 search contained a high-capacity magazine loaded with ammunition, a modified kitchen knife, a thumb drive, a tin filled with medicine and a full-face mask similar to those worn by Islamic State militants.

As soon as Twitter closed one account, Aziz would open another: It appears that Twitter routinely suspends AZIZ’s accounts due to the radical nature of his postings, which violate Twitter’s policies. According to court documents, Aziz, a U.S. citizen, used at least 57 different Twitter accounts to espouse violence and posted a hyperlink containing the names and other personal identification of 100 members of the U.S. military, advocating that they be targeted for violent attacks. “The charges in this case focus on Aziz’s efforts to assist persons seeking to travel to and fight for the Islamic State,” U.S.

AZIZ then responds by creating backup accounts or opening a new Twitter account with slightly different variations of the common user names that he uses. In one case, Aziz allegedly acted as a go-between, passing maps and telephone numbers, between a person in Turkey and several well-known members of ISIS. In an affadavit filed today, investigators said Aziz, using the Twitter account @AnsaraUmmah8 in January, allegedly tweeted “#KillAllKufar KillAllKufar KillAllKufar KillAllKufar KillAllKufar” Kufar means “infidels” or “non-believers.” Later the same month, Aziz, using Twitter account @Colonel_Shami allegedlytweeted “#IS ‘Know O Obama, that we are coming to America and know that we will sever your head in the White House.” The post included a picture of a beheading. My administration is in constant communication with our law enforcement partners and will continue to assist in any way possible. “ The case is being investigated by the FBI’s Philadelphia JTTF.
