CHP: DUI Suspect Who Jumped Off Bay Bridge Arrested.

OAKLAND (CBS SF) — A woman who allegedly evaded arrest last month by jumping into the water after crashing a stolen car on the Bay Bridge was arrested today in Oakland, according to the California Highway Patrol. At least three people are claiming ownership of the small brown chicken that snarled rush-hour traffic in the San Francisco Bay Area earlier this week.

A woman was arrested Sunday almost four weeks after she jumped from the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge while trying to evade police with a stolen auto, authorities said. After receiving information that the woman was staying in Oakland, officers located and arrested 25-year-old Erlynn Sanchez-Edwards on suspicion of vehicle theft, receiving a stolen vehicle, hit-and-run causing injury, resisting arrest and driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury. But by 10:10 AM, to everyone’s relief, the birdbrains over at animal services managed to capture and subdue the chicken, placing it where all escapees end up: the back seat of a squad auto. Authorities had sought Sanchez-Edwards since Aug. 12, when she plunged 70 feet from the bridge into the chilly water below as she tried to get away from CHP officers. Christopher Sherry lauded the CHP officers and investigators who worked on identifying witnesses and investigative leads that resulted in the arrest of Sanchez-Edwards. © Copyright 2015 by CBS San Francisco and Bay City News Service.
