Tareasa “Reesa Teesa” Johnson Signs To CAA
Johnson recently opened up about her viral success on ‘The Tamron Hall Show,’ ‘GMA,’ and more.
Just weeks after her series, Who TF Did I Marry?, garnered over 400 million impressions, it’s been confirmed that Tareasa “Reesa Teesa” Johnson has signed with CAA for representation.
The 50-part series was spawned from a video asking, “What’s a f**ked up thing that your ex did to you?” The first part of the series alone amassed 39.5 million views — and counting — on TikTok.
“I am excited to join the CAA family in what has become an extraordinary and life-changing opportunity. I hope to bring this story and personal experiences to an even bigger platform with the hope of helping those in similar circumstances know they are not alone,” said Johnson, 39, in a statement.
During her recent interview with The Cut, Johnson admitted that reflecting and documenting her traumatic marriage and subsequent divorce took a toll on her.
“It was actually hard to do the entire series,” she explained to the outlet. “You’re putting yourself out there in a very vulnerable way. If you’re going to tell this story, you’re gonna have to admit that you f**ked up. I can’t sit here and say that I don’t still blame myself. The feelings that I had in 2021, those feelings are trying to come back in 2024.”
After concluding the series and realizing that her ex-husband, Jerome “Legion” McCoy, never liked or loved her, she cried in her bathroom for 15 minutes, as noted by The Cut. He has denied all of her claims— as she expected him to.
Despite her viral acclaim, Johnson still has a 9-5 job in law enforcement that she intends to keep for as long as possible. “As quickly as this has happened is as quickly as you will find yourself on your a**,” she expressed. “No job, no money, no friends, because you were feeling yourself too much because you ended up on Good Morning America.”
When speaking on how her job has reacted to all of this, The Cut reported, “One of her bosses finds the situation hilarious, while another seems perplexed that she has millions of TikTok followers.” It was confirmed that she hasn’t made any money from her videos, but was gifted an international trip to London and Paris with the help of her followers.
Johnson also has meetings from networks and production companies about adapting her series for film/TV, and she revealed that she wants to be played Jill Scott, Natasha Rothwell, or Danielle Pinnock. The latter has already expressed interest.
Johnson also plans to write a book, teasing, “There are some big bombshells.” Previously, she told Tamron Hall that one of the things she left out of the video series was how she felt in hindsight after realizing that McCoy purposely left her alone as she suffered from a miscarriage.
“The dominoes started falling and one of those dominoes was the realization that you did not have a business meeting when I had to go to the hospital. You simply were not there […] I realized that you really left me hanging when I needed you the most and on so many levels, I can honestly sit here and tell you that is the one thing that I struggle to forgive because it’s already hard,” she told Hall.
