How to Get the Fortnite Doctor Doom Island and Transform
The Fortnite Doctor Doom Island and its resulting transformation might be the single most important item, but it’s incredibly rare. How can you get it?
Something big has been added with the latest Fortnite patch. A mythic or transformation on the same level as the Thanos event we had in the past. Maybe even more powerful. If you’ve played, you might be wondering why you weren’t immediately deleted from the lobby.
The transformation is incredibly rare. Only a small number of players are actually likely to experience the Fortnite Doctor Doom transformation. Why is it so rare and how can you try to access it yourself?
What is the Fortnite Doctor Doom Transformation?
The Fortnite Doctor Doom transformation is a new mechanic in-game. Kind of like transforming into Thanos back in Chapter 1, it’s a full-on transformation. Players get completely replaced by Doctor Doom, with new attacks, movement, everything. You essentially become a raid boss.
Unlike that event though, this isn’t every game. Players will instead have to keep rerolling to try and find it. The frustrating thing is how late in the game it comes and how rare it is. If you want to actually be Doctor Doom in Fortnite, it could take quite a while before you even get a look at it.
The Fortnite Doctor Doom transformation will only be active in a small minority of games. This is what we know about its spawn rate:
How Rare is the Fortnite Doctor Doom Transformation?
The Fortnite Doctor Doom transformation apparently only spawns in one out of twenty games. It’s supposed to have a 5% spawn rate. Or 12% in the first weekend, 5% again afterward.
That’s not much. It’s quite a bit less than you might think even looking at the numbers. On average, it’ll appear every 20 games. That doesn’t mean you get it once every twenty though.
It’s possible to play a thousand matches and never see it. Equally, you could get it many times, but the odds are extremely low of either extreme happening. You’ll also only know if you’re in the right game or not when the island spawns in. Essentially, you have to make top 10-15 before you even know.
It’s a bit hard to find. It’s probably got a worse spawn rate than a lot of players have win rates for Fortnite this season.
Is It More Common on Different Servers?
One myth that’s flown around since the update is that you can somehow trigger the Doctor Doom transformation event by playing on a specific server. You can’t.
The chances are the same everywhere. The busier servers might be effected by having more games running at once, but to any single players, the chance of stumbling on it should be the same no matter what server you’re in.
This is a myth. The Fortnite Doctor Doom transformation isn’t any more common on Oceania servers or anywhere else. Some players have just gotten lucky more than others.
Is There Any Way to Force the Fortnite Doctor Doom Island?
Nope. Annoying, but there really isn’t anything you can do to try and speed things up short of playing games until it happens.
There are plenty of people with silly techniques they’re claiming work, but there’s no way to influence the RNG of whether you get the Fortnite Doctor Doom island or not. You’ve just got to wait things out and hope you get lucky.
On the other hand, even if you get in a game with the island, actually transforming into Doctor Doom is harder still.
How to Know You’re in a Fortnite Doctor Doom Game
When you jump in to play Fortnite, there’s one thing that lets you know if you’re part of the 5%. The Rift in POI. Before this happens there’s no tell. You have to play like normal, trying to find the best Fortnite weapons and get into position.
You don’t have to be close to the island to know though. Players will find out the second it starts to spawn in. Doctor Doom makes an announcement, it’s kind of hard to miss.
Once this appears you know you’re in a Doctor Doom game. So how do you access the transformation?
How to Get the Fortnite Doctor Doom Transformation
Once you see the transformation on-screen pop up, there’s one thing to do, head to that island.
Getting there, you’re probably going to find most of the remaining non-bot players in competition for Doctor Doom.
essentially whoever gets up there and interacts with the cauldron will get the transformation, so you’ll need to fight your way up there.
If you’re not sitting at the top of the Fortnite ranks, this could get tricky. You will basically have to 1-v-1 anyone else in the location to get up there. Likely, everyone will be sweating their hardest now.
In actuality, whoever presses interact first gets it. However, you’ll be safer fighting off other players since it’s easy to steal the transformation since players claiming it sit still more than long enough for a quick headshot.
What could be annoying is that players who aren’t already good probably won’t get to see the transformation. In any given lobby, pretty much every human will be going for it. So, the best players probably gets it.
What Do You Get?
Once you transform, your physical skin will change. You’ll become a version of the Fortnite Doctor Doom skin that’s twice as big, with these extra controls:
- Gauntlets – A powered-up version of the Doctor Doom Gauntlets as an attack
- Beam Attack – A beam attack that completely shreds players and builds
- Flight – You get a huge double jump that can basically let you fly.
- Foot Attack – A dive attack from the sky that’s straight from Marvel V Capcom
- 1000 HP – 500 health, 500 Shield.
- Siphon – You get 200 siphon off every kill, a full heal for normal players.
Stopping Doctor Doom
So, you didn’t get Doom. But you’ve got a crown and want to try and get the win still. What can you do? There isn’t exactly an easy counter or anything.
Doctor Doom has insane health, healing, and over-the-top attacks. There isn’t much you can do. Really, the best counter is to head to the island yourself and try to get the powers.
This naturally brings up a bit of a problem with these 5% of games. Doom is close to unstoppable, so the real Battle Royale concludes on that island.
Once the transformation is done, you can go for a heal-off and hide or attempt some other strategy, but Doom has a thousand health. Most human players will die before the transformation. Doom cleans up the bots (even outside of bot lobbies there are about 70 in each game), gets his Victory Royale screen.
Essentially, it isn’t going to be the most interesting once the transformation happens, it’s probably easier just to go for it and take your chance. If you don’t get it, you’ve just skipped a rage-inducing curb stomp.
