Carter, selected by the Bengals in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, was waived last Friday after appearing in the team’s first four games of the 2024 season, including two starts. He was given the opportunity to gain some experience due to injuries along the depleted defensive front, logging the most snaps among Cincinnati’s interior DL during that span. However, with DE Myles Murphy and DT McKinnley Jackson being activated from injured reserve, Carter was the odd man out. To begin his third season as a pro, he’s recorded 9 total tackles, 2 pressures, 1 sack, and 1 stop over 151 snaps (80 in pass rush, 71 in run defense). Since being drafted, he’s accumulated 56 total tackles, 27 stops, 19 pressures, 2 sacks, and 1 forced fumble.

While Carter has yet to find solid footing in the NFL, the Saints may feel they can unlock his potential. If they decide to sign him, he could provide some assistance to their struggling run defense.
