NPD Trend Tracker: Winter drinks special

The nights are drawing in and the days are getting colder. But the beverage industry is ready and waiting, with a whole range of new drinks to keep consumers cosy, positive and energised right through until springtime.

Everest-level drinks

Natural energy drinks brand, TENZING, is launching its new Super Natural energy blend. Developed with nutritionists, the new recipe is a combination of natural ingredients from Vitamin D and C to Magnesium and Lion’s Mane. The creators made it specifically with winter in mind, claiming it helps to boost energy levels, mood and immunity.

“At TENZING, we are all about providing people with natural energy, harnessed from plants, and so we are super proud of this new launch,” says founder, Huib van Bockel. “We’ve worked tremendously hard to create an unrivalled recipe of super natural energy, for example, our Vitamin D is sourced from pine trees, in stark contrast to the artificial Vitamin D added to many products, whilst Lion’s Mane is known to lift mood and energy.”

Festive cider

Showerings

Showerings is launching its Triple Vintage Cider in time for Christmas. The triple vintage blend is said to encapsulate the fragrances and scents of Showering’s Somerset orchard, and has a light and delicate flavour.

It’s said to pair perfectly with a roast dinner and is becoming a favourite of chefs, Simon Rogan and Alain Roux.

“A delicious cider with lovely fresh fruit aromas and deep, complex flavours. It is incredibly versatile, like having an orchard in a bottle,” says Alain Roux.

“Showerings is a stand-out cider on the market, which displays a delicate complexity that works so well with a range of flavours and food, be it my own dishes or with something more informal at home,” adds Simon Rogan.

V Rum gets spicy

V Spiced Rum

British rum brand, V Rum, has launched its first spiced rum, V Spiced. Produced at the brand’s sustainable distillery in Hampshire, England, V Spiced is said to be sweet and golden with a distinctly rich flavour.

The V Rum distillery operates using 100% renewable electricity, is a pioneer of green gas provided by Ecotricity, and uses molasses from UK sugar production to limit air miles. And, in keeping with the brand’s sustainable credentials, V Rum Spiced features a sustainable label, made of 95% sugar cane waste and 5% hemp and linen.

“V Rum launched to the world just a few months ago and the feedback has been incredible,” says Carl Churchill, co-founder of V Rum. “The one thing that kept coming up however was how much people wanted to try a spiced version of our premium and sustainable British rum. We’ve been perfecting the recipe for months and now we’re ready to introduce it to the world, just in time for winter and the delights of spiced rum punches or neat serves next to open fires.”

Rampur Distillery is launching its latest Indian Single Malt Whisky expression, Rampur Barrel Blush. The distillery’s new offering is matured in American Bourbon barrels before being finished in Australian Shiraz wine casks.

The single malt features a complex flavour profile, with the initial maturation in American Bourbon barrels imparting notes of vanilla, oak, and soft spices. The Australian Shiraz wine casks add a layer of ripe berries and dark fruit, said to create a ‘balanced yet bold expression’.

“As the whisky consumer market continues to evolve, the release of Rampur Barrel Blush not only highlights our commitment to innovation and excellence but also offers us the opportunity to present our craftsmanship to whisky enthusiasts worldwide,” says Sanjeev Banga, president of international business at Radico Khaitan. “We have poured our passion into this blend, meticulously experimenting with unique maturation techniques to create a whisky that authentically reflects our heritage.”
