Player Summary:
Redshirt Senior transfer from Cincinnati where he would have been the starting corner for them this season but transferred due to medical reasons. Lines up mostly as the outside corner in a primarily
4-2-5 defense. Anderson Jr. is a player with above average size for the position. He is a lengthy corner that has above average ball skills and good play recognition. Shows above average speed and displays the ability to keep up with his man downfield in man coverage. In zone coverage, he does a great job of disguising his assignment and reading the quarterback’s eyes to make a play on the ball. In the pass game, he displays elite ball skills. With already 4 INTs in 2024, he shows a unique ability to play with good eyes, find the ball, and make a play on it. Above average vertical speed and COD and does a great job of mirroring the receiver in coverage. Anderson Jr. has good lateral quickness and has the ability to make quick adjustments to various route combinations. A physical player in both the run and the pass game, and possesses average tackle ability. He struggles with wrapping up and finishing tackles as well as breaking down and getting the ball carrier to the ground. Displays his presence around the ball, but sometimes struggles with missed tackles. Anderson Jr. in the run game shows a great downhill burst to make the play on the ball carrier in the quick game. Covers a lot of ground for the position and possesses elite skill to stop screens on his side of the field. At both Cincy and Austin Peay, Anderson Jr. occasionally lines up at the Nickel position to stop the run and display his physicality in different blitz packages as well. The overall vision for this player would be a primary outside corner, but using his skillset in various packages in both the run and the pass game. His physicality and ball skills make him a reliable option for a defense.
Scheme Fit:
CB in Zone or Man Coverage/ Nickel for various blitz packages.
Power Statement:
Lengthy, physical corner who displays great ball skills and takes away the vertical threat. Could use improvement on tackling and stopping outside zone runs, but overall a good, reliable outside corner that can be used in various defensive packages.
