Jorge Masvidal reveals his UFC return date is set as he accidentally leaks promotion’s ‘Magic’ plans for 2025

Former UFC star Jorge Masvidal left the UFC in 2023 after four consecutive losses and briefly entered the boxing world shortly after.

Jorge Masvidal rose to stardom after landing one of the most viral KOs in UFC history when he left Ben Askren completely unconscious within the first five seconds of their 2019 fight.

Later that year, ‘Gamebred’ became the inaugural UFC BMF champion when the doctor rendered Nate Diaz unable to continue in round three due to lacerations on his eye.

Jorge Masvidal reveals UFC return date is set

Following a hugely successful year, Masvidal was given a welterweight title shot against Kamaru Usman on short notice, which marked the beginning of his downward spiral with the promotion.

After losing to ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ twice in a row, the 40-year-old then lost a huge grudge match against Colby Covington, in what will go down as one of the biggest rivalries in UFC history.

Masvidal left the UFC to pursue more money elsewhere, and earlier this year, he rematched Diaz in the boxing ring in a co-promoted event with Real Fight Inc, losing to the Stockton brawler again.

Since then, the 40-year-old has been putting a lot of time into his promotion, Gamebred Promotions, and has held several events this year.

Despite that, Masvidal has continuously hinted that he will return to the UFC next year, and he has now revealed that he has a month confirmed for his return and has leaked the promotion’s plan for a location.

“I’ll be back in April next year in the UFC, we don’t have the opponent yet, hopefully by December we’ve got the opponent and April, Miami card,” Masvidal said on Jake Shields AJJ.

The UFC has yet to announce any of their events past March next year, however, Masvidal seems confident that in April, they will return to ‘The Magic City’, Miami.

UFC fans speculate whether Masvidal’s feud with Leon Edwards will be settled

Someone else who leaked his return to the Octagon this past weekend is former 170lb champion, Leon Edwards.

‘Rocky’ unfortunately lost his welterweight title to Belal Muhammad back in July at UFC 304, and since then, he has been extremely quiet regarding his return to action.

Despite that, the promotion recently announced that in March 2025, they will return to the o2 Arena in London for the first time since 2023.

With that, fans began to speculate who could possibly headline the event with interim heavyweight champion, Tom Aspinall, out of the running as he is pursuing a title unification bout against Jon Jones.

Ranked lightweight Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett seemed like a potential headliner considering his popularity over that side of the pond, however, fans now have an answer as to who will be headlining the event in ‘The Big Smoke’.

This past weekend during an interview with DAZN Boxing, Edwards revealed that he will be returning in March to headline the promotion’s return to London.

With that, fans began to speculate whether he could finally be set to settle his feud with Masvidal after the two got involved in a brawl backstage at UFC London in 2019.

They were then booked to fight each other in 2021, but Masvidal withdrew from the fight as he opted for a fight against Covington instead.

It is unclear who ‘Rocky’ will headline the March 22 event against, however, with Masvidal’s recent revelation, that feud is unlikely to be settled any time soon.
