But we’ll try to keep that to a minimum. Kirby Lee-Imagn Images. Q: Who’s your top free-agent priority for the Vikings in March? Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images. Answer: We’ll go with cornerback D.J. Reed of the New York Jets. Otherwise, a WR3 like Amari Cooper would be fancy. As it stands, the Vikings have Mekhi Blackmon and NaJee Thompson under contract at cornerback for 2025 — and then that’s it. Onlookers will hope rookie Dwight McGlothern breaks out down the stretch of 2024, and then he can easily be re-signed to another contract. Byron Murphy will probably be back, though his price tag has increased as the veteran corner is likely heading to a Pro Bowl. A CB room of Murphy, Reed, and McGlothern just might do the trick. Otherwise, Minnesota will have to use a 1st-Round pick on a CB and hope the team’s struggles in drafting corners can end. Q: How will Minnesota fare in the postseason? Will they win at least one game? Brad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports. Answer: We believe Minnesota will win its Round 1 matchup on the road against the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, or Seattle Seahawks. This team is that balanced and effective. Thereafter, it’d play the Philadelphia Eagles or Detroit Lions on the road — and the luck will probably run out there. Of course, Kevin O’Connell’s club could get hot in the season’s final five games and return to the September ways. It’s just that the team has dominated an opponent in 10 weeks. So, we think that translates to a Divisional Round playoff departure. Q: Who will start at cornerback for the Vikings this weekend with Stephon Gilmore probably out? Jeffrey Becker-Imagn Images. Answer: Veteran Fabian Moreau will likely get the nod because of his experience, but Minnesota also likes rookie Dwight McGlothern. Flores will probably get McGlothern some looks to acclimate him. And if Moreau encounters another stinker — he wasn’t very good against the Cardinals last weekend — the hook could be quick to an alternative. McGlothern is really the only alternative.
