A 90 Day Fiancé fan favorite has died.

David Murphey, who appeared on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days in 2020, passed away Dec. 11 at age 66 after experiencing health problems for a number of years, according to a statement shared by his family.

“David was a veteran, small business owner and software engineer,” the TLC alum’s loved ones wrote on Instagram Dec. 18. “He had recently retired from the Clark County Treasurer’s office in Nevada, having also worked for H&R Block and IGT.”

David’s family also highlighted his stint on the reality series, which chronicled his controversial online romance with his Ukranian-born girlfriend Lana.

“His time on the show allowed him to connect with viewers, see the world and share his experiences with his thousands of followers on Instagram,” the statement continued. “He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and fans.”

The reality star is survived by his two sisters, according to the statement, as well as his beloved cat, Gamera. In fact, his family emphasized his “fierce love” of felines and encouraged mourners to donate to a Las Vegas animal shelter in his memory, adding, “He always made an effort to adopt cats and give them a good loving home.”

Throughout the fourth season of Before the 90 Days, David’s inner circle expressed their concerns about his long-distance relationship, which went on for seven years. After proposing to Lana on the season finale, the two later went their separate ways, but David didn’t give up on finding love online, as he shared on 90 Day Diaries in 2022.

“You always have to remember: nothing is real until you meet,” he explained. “When you’re doing this international thing, you gotta have multiple irons in the fire. So if this doesn’t work out, then it’s like, ‘Next.’”
